THE PROCESS:
The digital fact-sheet must be created using Prezi, and include the following elements:
- Showcases at least five state endangered species (one bird, one mammal, one plant life, one insect, one aquatic animal)
- Size of the animal/plant
- Habitat location and range (size)
- Image of the Animal
- Population size
- Rate of population decline/growth over the last 5 or 10 years
- An interesting/fun fact
- Distance of Migration (if applicable)
- ALL numerical information must be represented in both Standard & Scientific Notation
- At least two audio/video components
STEP 1: Pick a State
Decide which of the 50 US States you would like to produce a fact sheet for. [Remember - Texas has already been taken.]
STEP 2: Research, Research, Research
As you will discover, there are many different endangered species indigenous to each state, and many different websites which provide information about them. It is recommend that your team use a graphic organizer to keep track of the sites referenced in your final product. For information about the relevant resources you are required to use when you create your fact sheet, click on the resources button below.
STEP 3: Organize
The USFWS recommend you plan out your fact-sheet before you put it all together. Story boarding is a great way to organize the sequence of your fact-sheet and to ensure all the required specifications have been included.
STEP 4: Put it All Together
Your fact-sheet needs to be both informative and engaging. Part of your requirements is to use Prezi to create a powerful and educational fact-sheet.
STEP 5: Review & Submit
Remember, this is a valuable commission. Take time to carefully review and assess your fact-sheet. It is recommend that you use the evaluative criteria before you submit your product for consideration by the U.S Fish & Wildlife Services. In addition, each team will be assigned a dedicated liaison who will provide guidance and feedback to ensure requirements are being met.
STEP 6: Present
Prepare to present your fact-sheet at the National Wildlife Federations annual gala. Information related to this presentation can be found on the resources page.
